We all have those memories that always make us smile, no matter the day that we’ve been having. Memories that can make everything seem beautiful. Memories that can change the way we feel, just like that. Memories that sometimes hurt to remember, but we can’t seem to live without. For me, they’re memories of you.
I am now the proud owner of… drumroll please… a skirt!
Alright alright, I know that’s not something most people are proud of, but for me it’s like entering a brave new world. I’m not the sort of girl who dresses up, who wears makeup, who accessorises and spends more time in front of a mirror than necessary. I grew up with guys, I played rugby with guys, I still hang out with heaps of guys.
Oh dear god, am I becoming a guy?!
It’s this thought that lead me to a completely unnecessary shopping trip. And, for once, I bought more than groceries.
I now have a skirt.
And it’s a girly skirt.
High waisted with a black band that has gold buttons at the front and a creamy/light-pink bottom with little black cats on it.
If that isn’t girly then I don’t know what is.
AND if that isn’t enough, I even planned an outfit to go with it. You heard me. An entire outfit.
So who’s not girly enough now?! Ha!
Some people make your laugh a little louder, your smile a little brighter, and your life a little better.
There will be times when you won’t be able to think of a reason to smile. When that happens, smile for all the people who look up to you for the strong person that you are. They’re the ones who keep you strong. Nothing can bring you down, not when there are people in your life who will help you back up.
Don’t grow up too quickly. You might forget what it feels like to laugh for no reason, to run for the sake of running, to leap without falling, to do without thinking, to dream, to believe, and to fall in love with the smallest of things.
I remember what you wore on our first day. You came into my life and I thought ‘hey, you know this could be something’.
